Wood graining (Faux Bois) is becoming very popular.
Both homeowners and designers are asking for it, so don’t
miss this class on the fundamentals of wood graining.
The look of wood is back so when a real wood finish is
too expensive, faux bois is the cost-effective alternatives.
You will learn how to realistically render wood
grain finishes, including wood structure and
analysis, graining patterns, color considerations for
various types of wood (base colors and glazes), areas
of application, proportion, and proper use of graining
tools.
Before painting specific wood grain samples, students
will have practice exercises in the graining procedures
of flogging, mottling, and figuring. Wood grain
samples (may vary) include oak, mahogany, walnut, bird’s
eye maple, and pine.
This course is designed for serious decorative
artisans wanting to enhance their skills and
add classic faux wood grain finishes to their portfolios.
